Submission rules
Funny at no one's expense.
✎ Draft wording around the rules. The four rules themselves are from the brief.
The best overheards are funny because they're universal, not because of who said them. These rules keep it that way. If a submission breaks any of them, we won't post it.
- No names, initials or details that could identify someone. That includes nicknames, distinctive job titles, "the only person in my year who…", and anything else that would let a reader work out who it was.
- Nothing about anyone's health, sexuality or private life that could identify them. Some things aren't ours to share, however well phrased.
- No hate, harassment or threats. Not about individuals, not about groups, not as a joke.
- Everything is reviewed before anything is posted.A real person reads every submission. We may edit it for anonymity or length, and we may decide not to post it at all.
Where it was said
You can tell us the college, somewhere else in Oxford, or somewhere further afield. If it was said outside Oxford, it must have been said by an Oxford student.
